Fibonacci Day

About this event

Math is everywhere, even on your dinner plate! SoMa 501 invites you to Fibonacci Day on South Main, the grand finale of Math on Main, a year-long public art and learning series supported by the Simons Foundation's Infinite Sums initiative.

The Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...) shows up in pinecones, sunflowers, seashells and spirals all around us. On Monday, November 23, we're celebrating it with food, art and hands-on fun for all ages at the Bernice Garden.

Free from 4 to 8 p.m.: Enjoy free spiral snacks and Fibonacci math activities hosted by the UA Little Rock math department and local schools. Watch the installation of a kinetic, wind-activated tile mural inspired by the Fibonacci sequence. It's the third and final installation on the Math Path on Main.

Fibonacci Friendsgiving, 6 to 8 p.m.: Pull up a chair for a sit-down Friendsgiving dinner with spiral-inspired courses from Community Bakery, BCW, Roni's Mac Bar and Loblolly. Tickets are $10 and seating is limited.
