If you've got a yard, a farm or a schoolyard with room for a tree, this one's for you. The City of Bryant has partnered with the Central Arkansas Tree Planting Project to hand out free native trees. Homeowners, schools, churches, farms, nonprofits, businesses and public agencies can all ask for them.

166,000native trees planned across six central Arkansas counties by the end of 2029

The regional effort covers Faulkner, Grant, Lonoke, Perry, Pulaski and Saline counties.

More than two dozen native species are available, including redbud, flowering dogwood and bald cypress. Organizers say the trees shade homes and streets, reduce stormwater runoff and improve wildlife habitat. You can request trees online. Recipients are asked to plant them promptly, document where they go and keep caring for them.

  • Next round: free bare-root seedlings for spring planting
